Figueira da Foz has a film festival again – TVI 24
Short films and feature films will be up for awards from september 8th to the 14th
One week of cinema, from september 8th to the 14th, with short and feature films up for awards, is the proposition of the Figueira Film Art festival, presented this wednesday in Figueira da Foz.
Promoted by a nonprofit association, the program intends on “establishing a bridge” with the old Figueira da Foz International Film Festival (FICFF), which ended in 2002, 12 years ago, said today Luís Albuquerque, general director of Figueira Film Art.
However, due to the current economic situation, the project for the new film festival acknowledges itself to be “inevitably different” from FICFF – which was considered the most important film festival to take place in Portugal and valued cinematographies from diverse countries, usually not broadcast in our country.
“The International Film Festival was a staple of festivals in Portugal. Any comparison is a big shoe to fill”, admitted Luís Albuquerque.
