António Pedro Vasconcelos is the sponsor of Figueira Film Art
“We begin to feel the snowball effect regarding the notoriety of the festival that is increasing worldwide.” Words spoken by Luís Albuquerque, the most known face of the 3rd edition of Figueira Film Art, which runs from August 29 to September 4, 2016. The festival already has 188 films submitted in contest from countries such as Portugal, United States, Brazil, Russia, Singapore, India, Japan, Peru, and many others. However, he stresses that “It is not the festival we planned yet, cause there’s a lot to correct and improve”, despite being convinced that “we are one step closer to calling it The International Film Festival”. With a budget around 50.000 EUR, and a financial support (and also the logistical support) of 2.500 EUR from the City Council (same as last year), the festival will keep the same film categories from the past years (long and short films, fiction, documentary and video clip). The category “Schools”, following the last year success, will be extend to all countries, once they already receive 22 films to this category, including 6 Portuguese. The jury will be composed of five personalities from the Sétima Arte and hold again by the director Andresj Kowalski.
